On the Internet, I'm probably best known for designing information graphics, you may have even seen one or two of them bobbing around. After graduating from the University of Leeds with a first class degree in New Media and a minor in Japanese, I was hired straightaway as a designer for a start-up based in Bristol, UK where I fell into the role of an information designer quite accidentally.
It was a job I never really knew existed, but with my passion for both design and numbers (I'm a bit of a maths and science nerd) it suited me perfectly. I then went on to research, analyse data and design for literally hundreds of infographics covering a wide range of topics for a number of online and print publications.
Since then, I have freelanced for a number of organisations including Column Five Media and Fast Company, and led the infographic projects at JESS3 as their information design director. I currently run my own design studio, Falling Blossom, where I tell stories with data.
When I'm not designing, you will likely find me:
- Immersing myself in a good sci-fi / fantasy book
- Playing World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2
- Drinking a cup of coffee or green tea
- Looking at maps
- Hiking up a nearby hill or mountain
- Playing boardgames (I freakin' loves boardgames!)
- Studying Japanese
- Wine tasting
- Listening to classic rock or power metal
- Petting my cat
- Kicking people's butts at Guitar Hero
- Learning herbalism... because it could come in handy.
Never stop learning
Im my spare time I take university courses for fun!
