My New Love: Airbnb
Over the past couple of days I have literally been obsessed with Airbnb. For those who don’t know, Airbnb is a great little service that allows you to search for affordable rooms and apartments to stay in when you travel. The difference is, that these rooms are hosted by ordinary people.  And I can’t quite believe the amazing places I’ve already seen that you can stay in: ...

Masquerade Hen Party
At the end of June this year I will be attending a murder mystery hen party on an old steam train. Theme = masquerade. Now, I know it’s a fair way off, but I’ve been thinking long and hard about what kind of costume I would like to wear as “masquerade” is pretty open. So after much deliberation, I’ve decided to go with steampunk. Okay, so maybe not the most logical in...

Bonsai Tree Castle
My life will not be complete until I have one of these in my office! How intricately stunning!  Japanese artist Takanori Aiba built this unbelievably intricate mini-castle in and around a potted Bonsai tree using stone clay, epoxy putty, copper line, plastic, and resin. I can’t get over the amount of time and effort this must have taken. (via Dangerous Minds)

Amazing Photography of Yan Yongliang
These photos by Yan Yongliang absolutely blow me away. I love how he has mixed traditional techniques with modern photography to create these haunting, powerfully, moving series of images. The image above come from a series based on Shan shui paintings. These type of paintings stem from a history that goes back more than 1,500 years ago and the images often depict scenes of natural landscapes...

Welcome to Tokyo
I love this book by Elena Frielinghaus! Welcome to Tokyo explores, through a plethora of visualisations, the city of Tokyo, taking a look at demographics, geography and history. In the words of Elena: I dealt with visualizations of geographical, demographical and historical facts and figures about the japanese metropolis Tokyo. For an optimum comprehensibility I‘ve been experimenting with...

The Miss-Representation of Women in the Tech World →
I wrote a short piece about the mis-representation of women in tech over on the JESS3 blog this afternoon. It’s a little bit of a rant, but it’s something that I feel quite strongly about.
