A Chart of Charts
A helpful chart showing which types of chart to use when something needs charting.
Chartwell: A Typeface for Creating Charts
Need to create quick, simple charts? Well now you can with this amazing typeface, Chartwell, designed by Travis Kochel. Basically you type numbers and plus signs, and out pops charts.

Chartwell is a set of three fonts that together create a remarkable set of tools for creating bar, line, and pie charts. It uses OpenType ligatures to perform its magic – a series of numbers can be transformed into clean, perfectly rendered graphs, as you type.

To celebrate Christmas this year I thought I’d share with you this lovely festive Venn Diagram by the people over at Pop Chart Labs!

Merry Christmas everybody!
To Do
This Venn diagram to-do list by illustrator extraordinaire Wendy MacNaughton, of Circles of Influence fame, says it all. It pretty much summarises how I go about things on a daily basis.

Correlation or Causation?
I just saw this interesting series of charts over on Business Week (click image to view full-size). It just goes to show that you really can force data to give you the answers you want. All you need is one leading question, and 2 simple charts, and voila you can pretty much prove anything.
Correlation may not imply causation, but it sure can help us insinuate it.
It’s pretty scary really… this simple exercise shows humorous examples of how this technique can be used to manipulate data, but how often is it used in the media or political campaigns to confuse or brainwash? A truly worrying example of how data can be used for evil.
Incredibly Detailed Coffee Chart
2 weekends ago me and the hubby had the delightful fortune to stumble across this wonderful little coffee shop in Bath called Colonna and Smalls. Not only did they serve coffee in a variety of super cool ways (halogen lamps and siphon filters…) but they had this awesome piece of artwork on the wall; an incredibly detailed analysis of the many different tastes and aromas of coffee. Who knew onion, garlic and cucumber would feature there!
I LOVE seeing infographics on my travels!
