Chartwell: A Typeface for Creating Charts
Need to create quick, simple charts? Well now you can with this amazing typeface, Chartwell, designed by Travis Kochel. Basically you type numbers and plus signs, and out pops charts.

Chartwell is a set of three fonts that together create a remarkable set of tools for creating bar, line, and pie charts. It uses OpenType ligatures to perform its magic – a series of numbers can be transformed into clean, perfectly rendered graphs, as you type.

Inspiration: Arcano Type
This has got to be one of the most beautiful typefaces I have ever seen. It was completely designed by hand using just Chinese ink on Japanese calligraphy paper by Guiseppe Salerno.

Inspired by nature, every single glyph is intricately designed in incredible detail and I am in complete awe of his work. You really can’t appreciate the detail that has been put into each letter until you see one right up close. Truly inspiring!

Do check out Guiseppe’s work over on the typeface’s website where you can purchase yourself a copy for a mere €30. Do it now!
Inspiration of the Day: Scrabble for Designers by Andrew Clifford
This beautifully designed edition of Scrabble by Andrew Clifford aims at ‘exciting people about typography by giving them the ability to choose what font their Scrabble set should be in’. Unfortunately this edition is just for a project, but I imagine it would be extremely successful should it ever be put into production. Lovely!

Infographic of the Day: Typefaces of the World
It may only be just before 9am here in the UK, but I have already seen my ‘infographic of the day’. This attractive chart, by Shelby White shows the typefaces most commonly used in design today, where they come from and the year it was made. Okay, so half the world is missing… but it’s a great example of simple, clean but beautiful information design nonetheless. Just waiting for a hi-res version to be released…
